Boston's 3rd Annual Tweed Ride

Join us on Sunday October 16th at the Frog Pond located in Boston Commons for our 3rd Annual Tweed Ride. Meet up time is 10am, ride departing at 1030am. This year we will ride out to Jamaica Plain taking the Emerald Necklace to Franklin Park.

Bring food and supplies as we will be picnicking at Franklin Park before returning back to the Commons. As always this is a family friendly event, vintage bicycles are not required but dressing up is encouraged:tweed jackets, woolen knickers, dress shoes, bow ties, lace gloves, sun hats and the like. Helmets are not required but encouraged.

Who did the drawing? I like it!

The drawing is by an Australian artist - http://www.larkk.blogspot.com/

He had been asked to come up with a drawing for a tweed ride in Canberra and the idea really appealed to him, "I'm a cyclist myself, but I don't go in for any of that lycra and carbon fibre nonsense. Guess that's why the tweed ride idea appeals to me; vintage bikes & threads, slow paced leisurely cycling with lots of pub/cafe/picnic stops. Lycra racing heroes piss me off, as they can be pretty obnoxious to cyclists and pedestrians alike. Tweed rides make a point of being super polite on the road. I like that"

A friend asks to meet us on location. Can you tell us where the picnic gathering will take place?
(She is coming by car.)

Ah, the Tweed Ride! T'would have been nice to be able to find the picnic. But once at Franklin Park we hopelessly lost fellow Tweedy riders. Think we caught a glimpse of Velouria however could not be sure as the apparition vanished in a blur of red wool. Packed up and went into downtown JP instead. Sorry we missed you.
